    “Seize Your Inheritance!”

    September 29, 2014

“Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!” (I Pet 1:4 MSG)

The Word of God not only calls us to be saved but shares the blessing of salvation as well. In this festive season of Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets), Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and Feast of Tabernacles, let introspection, inspiration, resolution, commitment, and accomplishment of what you’re committed to, lead the way. These are exciting times for the Church because we know and understand that even in the midst of trouble, OUR GOD REIGNS!!! Because He reigns, we reign!

Whatever you are determined to do let it be filtered through this sifter, “let the peace of God rule in your heart, let the word of God dwell in you richly, and do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. According to Colossians 1:12 the Father has made us “meet” or “qualified us” to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. We couldn’t meet the qualifications on our own so the Father did it for us through Jesus.

Leona Helmsley (aka Queen of Mean), died in 2007 and left an estate worth about 8 billion dollars. Helmsley’s wishes were to leave the bulk of her estate to a Charitable Trust (valued at $4 billion+) which would be used to benefit dogs. The will left her Maltese dog, Trouble, $12 million. Leona had four grandchildren – two she gave $10 million (with a commitment that they visit their father’s grave site once a year) and two she gave none. She also gave her brother $15 million and her chauffeur $100k. These were her wishes, however the court ruled that Leona was mentally unfit when she executed her will and changed it as follows: Trouble received $2 million; $4 million went back to the Trust and $6 million was given to the two disinherited grandchildren.

Leona didn’t think the two deserved anything and disqualified them from any inheritance. The judge however ruled that the two grandchildren did deserve something and qualified them to receive a $3 million dollar inheritance a piece. (Information regarding Leona Helmsley was provided on Wikipedia).

Because of Jesus, the Father has qualified us for an inheritance we don’t deserve but He says, “here, take it, it’s yours.”
