    “ . . . Let There Be Light”

    July 16, 2017

The very first words of God after He created the heaven and the earth according to Genesis 1:3 are, “Let there be LIGHT (illumination, happiness)!” The earth was without form (a worthless thing), and void (an undistinguishable ruin); and DARKNESS (misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness) was upon the face of the deep (an abyss, as a surging mass of water). The Spirit (Ruach) of God moved (hovered, brood, relaxed) over the face of the waters.

Light is the antithesis of darkness. The Light was good which indicates darkness was evil. The purpose of light is to expose and overrule the darkness. Darkness represents obscurity while light represents clarity. Darkness represents ignorance while light represents knowledge and intelligence. God said, “Let there be light!”

The first fall took place in heaven where Lucifer (aka satan/dragon) rallied a third of the stars/angels (aka fallen demons, see Rev. 12:4-9) to revolt against the Throne of God. This was the origin and manifestation of darkness. When we fast forward to Revelation 21:23-27, we see, “for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” There is no more night and no more darkness.

The second fall took place on earth where man, influenced by satan the serpent (deceiver), ate of the forbidden fruit thus violating God’s authority resulting in sin. From the beginning, we see how man disobeyed God’s instructions, God’s authority, God’s commandments by surrendering to the subtilty of the deceiver and the result of the disobedience by relying on our own thoughts or understanding -- the result was separation from God and the curse was released. In First Corinthians 15:22 it says, “For as in Adam all [die], even so in Christ shall all be made a-[live].

The Gospel of John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the Light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. He also says, As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

In Genesis 1:3 where God says, “let there be light”, this light was for the EARTH (mass). In the Gospel of John Jesus says, I am the Light, this Light is for the WORLD – now we have become that light!  Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men . . . ”
