  • Have you ever heard the phrase, “Get in, sit down, shut up, and hold on”, something like that? It’s bold, instructional, to the point, and gets you where you’re going. So it is with this exhortation coming out of Hebrews chapter 10. While there are more “Let us” phrases throughout the Word of God, these three stand out as signposts that should be heeded daily.

Draw Near: We have access to the Father by the Blood of Jesus. Communion with Jesus is not optional, it’s a necessity. He paid the price; He paved the way. We draw near by separating ourselves apart from the busyness of life and spend some quality time in the presence of El Shaddai – the God who is more than enough. To freely come before the Father is a privilege we cannot afford to ignore. Excuses only hinder the plans He has for us. To fellowship with the Holy Ghost is to keep the fire burning. He teaches, guides, reveals, empowers, and helps us to work the works of God. If we take full advantage of what has been freely given to us by Jesus on a daily basis, we’re going to see change. James 4:8 says, “And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you.” TLB.

Hold Fast: Faith is the key to all that the word of God is saying to us. Unless we believe, the word of God – as powerful as it is – will prove to be uneventful and unproductive in our lives. As often as we hear the words have faith, only believe, trust God, all things are possible, etc., we can never hear them enough because faith is the requirement to see God move in our situations.  Your faith has to be inexhaustible! Live with it and live by it. Hold fast, never let go!

Consider One Another: Always remember; you’re not the only one. You are part of the eternal family of God. As long as we all live according to the will of God we are stuck with each other for eternity. Pluto is not an option. The following translations of Hebrews 10: 24 says it all:

“In response to all he has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good…” TLB

“Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out…” TMB

“And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities”…AMP
