    Happy New Year 2017

    January 1, 2017

Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.” Eze 37:4

In the vision of the valley of the dry bones, Ezekiel envisions the state and condition of God’s people while in exile. It is a vision of hopelessness and despair. What appears to be seemingly impossible is suddenly made possible with God.

Can these dry bones live”, asks the Lord of the prophet? The prophet’s response is not a simple “yes” or a “no”, but “thou knowest”. We see in verse 11 that God was revealing the state and condition of the hearts of His people and what they were saying to one another.

The remedy to this situation was to prophesy first to the dry bones – the people – to give them hope and secondly to the wind – the Spirit of God – to give them life. God’s Word and His Spirit are the rod and staff that comforts us and gets us through the valleys of the shadow of death.

God is not only concerned with the affairs of His people today but He is engaging in the process to bring us from exile. To be in exile is to be away from one’s home (i.e. city, state, or country), while either being explicitly refused permission to return and/or being threatened with imprisonment or death upon return according to Wikipedia. Israel’s banishment from their land was because of their disobedience towards God, but they had a promise of return in their future.

When we are out of sync, out of touch, out of fellowship with God, we too are in exile. Wherever we run to in exile will never suffice nor replace our right position with Jesus. We are the Church of the Living God, the Body of Christ in the earth, God’s own special/peculiar people who have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light.

God is speaking today to His people and He’s saying there is a window of opportunity I’m bringing before My people that can change the course of our land. With the situations in Syria, the South China Sea, Iraq, and the threat of nuclear war, God is saying, “Prophesy to these dry bones.” The dry bones are the Church of the Living God who think, feel, or believe they are out of place and there is no hope in serving God. But as Amos once said, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets (Amos 3:7)”, God has spoken to His prophets that not only is there hope, there’s opportunity! Seize this moment! Hear the word of the Lord and LIVE!!! Happy New Year 2017!
