    Naked and Not Ashamed

    April 9, 2017

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.” Isa 50:6

Life as a Christian, a Believer in Jesus as Lord and Savior, is neither a performance nor entertainment. It is real; it is a sacrifice; it is serious. The reality of it is expressed by a life that is transformed and reflects the life of Jesus. It is not an on-again, off-again relationship but one that is consistent, perpetual, solid and secure with the Shepherd and Bishop of our soul. Life is seen through the eyes of God and lenses of His written Word. It’s real deep down in the soul.

It’s a sacrifice because we give up our lives as Jesus gave up His own life to redeem us. We give up our lives so that we won’t perish. A life without Jesus is a life that will perish. That sentence of death involves eternal separation from God. If we choose to live apart from Him now we will spend eternity separated from Him later. Jesus is the Ultimate Sacrifice that has made the way of reconciliation possible through His Shed Blood. To reject Him is to reject the Only Hope of Salvation.

Just this morning, isis bombed two Christian Churches in Egypt killing some and wounding many. Those who died believing in the Lord Jesus Christ have gone on to glory and their blood is not shed in vain. The Believers who live in that region live in jeopardy on a daily basis – yet they continue to believe. They, like Moses, chose to suffer affliction as the people of God, rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (see Heb 11:25). That’s sacrifice.
