    Revolution

    January 11, 2015
“These people are out to destroy the world, and now they’ve shown up on our doorstep, attacking everything we hold dear![Acts 17:6 MSG]

Revolution: “the usually violent attempt by many people to end the rule of one government and start a new one; a sudden, extreme, or complete change in the way people live, work, etc. A fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something: a change of paradigm (meaning: a change of habit, pattern, or standard).”

The Jews in the day of Jesus were looking for their promised King to come and restore Israel back to prominence as it was in the days of King David. During Jesus’ earthly ministry two of His disciples along with their mother petitioned Jesus to sit at His right hand and at His left. As Jesus was ascending back to Heaven after His resurrection the disciples asked, “Master, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?” Jesus’ response is revolutionary, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world” (Acts 1:6-8 MSG). JESUS!!!

Jesus gave them, as well as us, a message and the power of the Holy Ghost to deliver that message. Why do we need power to deliver a message? Because the message is REVOLUTIONARY!!! Just look at the response of the people in Acts 17 verse 6 above. Personally, I enjoy the Message Translation as it lays everything out in simple terms but the KJV is clear-cut as well, “These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also…” That was the response that came as a result of Paul’s preaching/reasoning from the Scriptures for three Sabbath days in Thessalonica. The message was simple – That Christ must suffer and be resurrected/raised from the dead; Jesus is the Christ. It created a firestorm amongst the Jews and religious leaders of his day.

Jesus did not give us guns, ammunition, tanks, or grenades to carry out His will. He gave us His Word and the Holy Ghost! By His Word we understand that we have both Power and Authority that is based on Truth, Righteousness, The Gospel, Faith, Salvation, The Word, and Prayer. By the Holy Ghost (The Baptism in the Holy Ghost), we are infused with the Power that takes us to the level of Kingdom Power and Authority to execute the will of God in this earth. Dominion that was lost through Adam has been restored through Jesus! The Baptism with the Holy Ghost changes us into another man/woman fit for the Master’s use.

Jesus said this in Matthew 10 verse 16, Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” A baseball bat might be more appropriate, but Jesus says, “be ye therefore wise...” Why be wise? “Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.  Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.” [Eccl. 9:15-16.] We can take our city!
