"Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass."

    Rewind - Interlude

It’s Palm Sunday, the day when Jesus made His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. Jesus having told His disciples on three occasions that He was going to Jerusalem, has reached His destination and divine appointment. Prophesied 500+ years before by Zechariah the Prophet, Jesus fulfills this prophecy entering Jerusalem for His Crowning Achievement and Surpassing Victory.

As He makes His way from the Mount of Olives, the people go before Him laying their clothing and palm branches on the ground while saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest (Mt 21:9).” This was an honor fit for a King. His humility was seen in riding a donkey.

The palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life originating in the ancient Near East and Mediterranean world. The palm (Phoenix) was sacred in Mesopotamian religions, and in ancient Egypt represented immortality. In Judaism, the lulav, a closed frond of the date palm is part of the festival of Sukkot. A palm branch was awarded to victorious athletes in ancient Greece, and a palm frond or the tree itself is one of the most common attributes of Victory personified in ancient Rome. – Wikipedia

The people celebrated His coming but didn’t understand the purpose of His coming. He came to die, but He would rise again. What looked to be ultimate defeat turned out to be Surpassing Victory! Jesus died for our sins. He was buried. On the third day He rose for our justification. He did what we could not do. We are justified before God for eternity!

Thanks be unto God who ALWAYS causes us to TRIUMPH!! His Victory is Our Victory! The King came and He’s Coming Again!
