    "YOU!"

    July 6, 2014

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “you’re so heavenly minded that you’re no earthly good.” I’m not sure who coined the phrase but the opposite could be true as well, “you’re so earthly minded, you’re no heavenly good.” Both pertain to the state of the believer and neither state nor condition is good. We must have a balance and the balance is this: “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Jesus (Mt 6:33 KJV).

How is that a balance? The scale tips in the Lord’s favor. Our priorities, desires, and goals are so skewed at times that we can’t see or resolve the differences in what’s most important and what this life is really all about? When you look at the Amplified translation of Matthew 6:33 it becomes evidently clear what God’s perspective on things are: “But seek ([a]aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ([b]His way of doing and being right), and then all these things [c]taken together will be given you besides.”

Here’s a question to ask yourself: “When I die what will I take with me?” You can’t take the car, the house, the boat, the career, the bank account, or any other accomplishments/endeavors with you. All you have is YOU. Everything else gets left behind except YOU! Who are YOU and what did YOU do and why are YOU here? Job said it best, “Naked (without possessions) came I [into the world] from my mother’s womb, and naked (without possessions) shall I depart.” – (Job 1:21 Amp).

All you’ll have is your life and what you did with it. Some people will leave a lasting legacy on earth but an uncertain future for eternity. [Selah.] By that I mean they may do everything that will impress men but fall short of pleasing God. The Judge of their fate will be forced through their rejection of Christ to sentence them to eternal damnation along with the enemy of our soul – the devil. Daniel says it like this, “…but the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits [for God] (Dan 11:32 Amp).” When you add to what John saw and said, “And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]” (Rev 12:11 Amp). The picture becomes even more clear of what’s expected of us!

The meaning of our life here on earth has purpose and reason.  We do not hold onto to anything that will cause us to be anchored and rooted to the things that are of this world, our lives are to be sold-out for the spreading of the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus Christ came to save – YOU from YOU! The devil has no power once you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, however, you have the will to continue on your pursuit of the task entrusted unto YOU, or YOU can choose and be selective with things YOU will do for God. Which one will YOU choose?
